You are cordially invited on an 11.5 hour flight to a sunny destination with a 9 hour time difference.
Please join us for a hot California night à la mesure de son extravagance...
This was the invitation that popped up in La Mom's email a few weeks ago for the French TV channel Paris Première press screening and after-party of their show Paris Dernière.
Join presenter Philippe Besson as he takes Los Angeles by storm for this season's first TV show filmed abroad ~
"Los Angeles Dernière"
The invitation had me at 'after-party' (party = free champagne!)
le mercredi 27 avril 2011
à partir de 19h30
La Mom invited to a party at the new restaurant & bar Mom? Well,
All I wanna do is have some fun
I got a feeling I'm not the only one
All I wanna do is have some fun
Until the sun comes up over Santa Monica Boulevard
And so I joined Philippe Besson, Paris Dernière's host and the ultimate connaisseur of Parisian night life for a short trip to sunny California. Usually, he takes viewers on weekly nocturnal adventures around Paris. This evening though, la-la Land was the apple of Philippe's eye.
Here's how the evening started -
7:30 PM: La Mom arrived with Sheryl Crow on iTunes to get in the mood...
|
Sheryl: This ain't no disco It ain't no country club either This is LA!
La Mom: No, actually, it's the resto Môm 4-6 Rue Pierre Demours 75017 Paris |
|
The party was privatized in the salon & fumoir upstairs... |
|
a trailer ran en boucle on several TVs before the screening... |
|
I picked up my press kit... |
|
and listened to Philippe Besson & Karine Blouet, President of Paris Première, promote the show... |
|
while at the same time checking out the cute (and much younger) French journalists...
|
|
and snacking on American hot dogs with a French twist. |
8PM: Showtime
|
Sheryl: "All I wanna do is have a little fun before I die,"
Says the man next to me out of nowhere
It's apropos
Of nothing
He says his name's Philippe but I'm sure,
He's Bill or Billy or Mac or Buddy
La Mom: I'm sure he's Philippe. He looks so French, non?. |
Here's Philippe cruising around LA on a quest to meet the most interesting people going about their nocturnal business.
Some of the fun people he meets are:
- The Mayor of Beverly Hills (who speaks very cute French!)
- A French actress in Venice Beach
- A pharmacy owner. Although, this isn't a typical pharmacy...
- The band Puggy on Canyon Drive
- An actress at the Chateau Marmont
- The hilarious drag queen Ongina
|
Mmm..hunger strikes so Philippe stops at Pink's Hot Dog and ends up running into Marilyn Monroe |
|
Phil ends the evening chatting up Tim Robbins at his theater |
What a great soirée! La Mom sure had fun, I got a feeling I'm not the only one.
Thanks to Philippe Besson for taking me to LA, even if was just for a few hours. Special thanks to the press team "Valérie" and "Mathilde" for the invite. You gals are great!
Tune in to "Paris Dernière Los Angeles" on Saturday, May 28th at 11:30 PM on Paris Première and join Philippe Besson as he does LA by night!
