House Hunters International is a half-hour program currently airing on the Home and Garden Television Network (HGTV).  The program is a spin-off of the popular House Hunters and has spent the last several seasons exploring the idiosyncrasies of buying real estate in other countries.   HHI is about a personal journey of discovery and the making of life-long dreams.

The series is designed to de-mystify the international home-buying process by going behind the scenes of a house hunt where buyers and their real estate agents tour 3 homes.  At its core, House Hunters International is a travel show concentrating on the idiosyncrasies of the locales and what makes them special and different.  A great deal of effort will be made to capture rich visuals and to provide sequences where viewers will be exposed to local vistas, traditions, lifestyles and architecture.

This is cool! Wish I had a huge extra chunk of change to buy some real estate there...but alas no. Love House Hunters International!

This used to be one of my favorite shows until I was contacted by them last year for this same reason - at which point I realized that the whole thing was a scam and that you had to have already bought a house but then pretend you hadn't for the show. It's pretty disappointing that they fake stuff like that just because they're too lazy/cheap to do the legwork for real house hunting - though I guess it's a good reminder to never believe what you see on TV!

The funny thing is, if you look closely while watching it, you can often tell which is the "real" house because the filming for the real house is usually done during a different season than the two other homes.

I adore that program. Such wonderful glimpses into houses in foreign countries. I'll have to check on Netflix to see if they have that program on there. Haven't seen it in awhile.

Tres cool. I just saw this somewhere else too. Not sure if I've ever seen the show, but I'll check it out.

Too bad we don't still lived out of the country.

I wish! I'm still going to enjoy the show (especially the Paris episodes) even though I know they misrepresent the situation. It's just too much fun to look at the real estate and dream of doing it myself (sigh).

Tee hee... Plunked as I was on my mom's couch this past weekend, in front of the giant flat-screen tv, hooked up to The Dish, I was thrilled to discover this show... when they went to Paris, no less! Good entertainment... and new dreams of owning in Paris...

Oh how fun!! I love House Hunters!! Let us know if you find someone to be on the show. Also so we can keep a look out on HGTV to watch it. :D I didn't know that they look for people who already have bought a house. Weird.

We just did H H International..
Yes, we did already have our house..
Yes the time frame was fudged (a bit..- ok a lot)
But the story was real... we really did look at houses like the ones we filmed.. & the outcome was the same. -:-) I think it was an awesome experience.. & a great excuse to get friends & family on camera with us. :-) Besides, it gave all of our loved ones a look at our life in Norway.

It sounds like a wonderful show. I'm not sure if it is on here in Australia or not. If I had the cash I'd buy there in a second. In the meantime I shall dream.
I have nominated you for a Stylish Blogger Award, have a look at my blog for further details...

Bonjour La Mom.

You might be interested in this Guradian article about the Royal Warrants I read the other day:

Also since coming to France I have become more patriotic. I may not buy thigns because they're Royal, but I do think [the Royal Family] are culturally inmportant to us. Shame it's more of a 'brand' in France.
