La Mom's Musique

What's a boy to do when he's got the voice of Marvin Gaye trapped in a Frenchman's body?

If you're Ben L'Oncle Soul, you get your Motown groove on – with French lyrics, bien sûr.

Here's his big summer hit, Soul Man:

So does Ben have what it takes to make it as a Soul Man? Or should Frenchies stick to the accordion à la Edith Piaf? La Mom wants to know!

P.S. The funkiest cover ever – check out Ben L'Oncle Soul's remake of the White Stripes' Seven Nation Army on YouTube!

What's worse than getting asked to be a Botox Buddy? Getting dogged by the editor of Elle – all in the same day. It's just another jour in the life of La Mom. Don't miss next week's post to get all the scoop!

Well, he's no "Twin Twin" but I do love me some Marvin Gaye!

He definitely has what it takes. Well, at least his singing is better than his name!

@Paris Paul,

Yeah, his name is goofy, but apparently he got sued by our good friends at Uncle Ben's (of rice fame) because that's the name he was originally going by.

I guess it was better to change his name to something French than duking it out with the Rice King in the international courts. But it definitely loses something in translation.

But then I'm not discriminating
Love all hip hop, rap you name it.

Hey Carole, oh yeah, ça m'enerve. I'm posting that next. Small world -- they guy who wrote that song bough my friend's uncle's house where we've had several BBQs. I feel close to a one-hit wonder.
